Kristoffer Wøien

Kristoffer Wøien grew up in Norway with a childhood dream of becoming a conductor. After completing a Bachelor's degree in trumpet at the Music Conservatory in Tromsø, he was accepted in the conducting programme at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo with Professor Ole Kristian Ruud, where he is currently a Master's student

After moving to Oslo, Kristoffer auditioned and was accepted in the Dirigentforum, which gave him a lot of experience with the Norwegian professional orchestras. In 2023 he was fortunate enough to be accepted into Zürcher Hochschule der Künste as an exchange student, with Professor Christoph Mathias Mueller and Professor Johannes Schlaefli.

During masterclasses in Norway, Kristoffer has conducted many professional ensembles, including The Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK), Stavanger Symphony Orchestra and Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. Last year, he was an artist during Festspillene i Bergen, where he conducted pieces by Steve Reich and Iannis Xenakis.

Last autumn he had his debut concert with the Kongelige Norske Marines Musikkorps, conducting a programme of both French and Norwegian music. In this concert he also arranged some of the music himself. He has also previously conducted many of the professional wind bands in Norway, in addition to a recording of Norwegian music for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. Kristoffer has assisted the Operahøgskolens production of G. Rossini’s "Elisabetta Regina d'Inghilterra" in the Opera House of Oslo.
